Five Axis Plasma Cutting for Florence

Heavy plate cutting, contour bevels and machining in one setup, cut in Phoenix and delivered to Florence projects.

Plate Components for Florence Builds

Florence orders come from municipal, institutional and industrial work, where a drawing is issued for review and the part has to hold to it. Replacement components for equipment already in service are also common, and those start from a sample or a measured sketch.

Base plates, embeds, connection plates, gussets and skid parts are cut on a table with a 6 ft x 12 ft (1.83 m x 3.66 m) cut area, from 1/8 in to 4 in (3.2 mm to 101.6 mm) plate, with edges started over the pierce limit.

The torch angles through the cut for a contour bevel and the same program drills, taps, counterbores or mills, so a part that would otherwise move between machines comes off the table finished. Carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum plate all run on this table.

  • Cut area 6 ft x 12 ft (1.83 m x 3.66 m)
  • Contour bevels on five axes for weld preparation
  • Carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum plate
Benefits

Heavy plate finished in one setup

A standard plasma table cuts a flat profile and leaves the bevel and the holes for someone else. The five axis table angles the torch through the cut for a contour bevel, then drills, taps, counterbores or mills in the same setup, so the part is finished when it comes off the table.

Fewer setups means fewer chances for a part to move between machines.

Materials

The plate we cut

Structural and equipment plate grades run on this table, including work the laser cannot take.

  • Carbon steel plate
  • Stainless steel plate
  • Aluminum plate
  • Plate 1/8 in to 4 in (3.2 mm to 101.6 mm)
  • Plate too thick or too large for the 6 kW laser
  • Weld-preparation bevels in the cut program

Grade and thickness are confirmed at quote, because the pierce and the edge start change with the material.
